BALSAM OF PERU
This thick, dark liquid resin with a sweet, balsamic, soothing scent derives from a Central American tree of the pea family, which actually does not occur in Peru at all. Native people have long used this resin for both medicinal and magical purposes. When burnt it releases a unique fragrance that is both earthy and sweet with a distinct sensuous note. It also develops profuse amounts of thick smoke, which provides a useful medium and sufficient substance for spiritual entities to manifest in.
Balsam of Peru is burnt for prosperity and happiness and is often included in aphrodisiac blends. It also works well in incense for visualisation and dreamwork.
