Hazel is considered a magical plant that symbolises wisdom, good fortune and protection against all evil. Magic wands are made of hazel and so are dowsing rods that can enable the diviner to find lost or hidden objects or trace the flow of energy and water. In folk-symbolism the suggestive shape of the hazelnut has given rise to many erotic connotations and an aphrodisiacal reputation that is still alive and kicking.
A light coloured oil with a nutty scent particularly useful for its mildly astringent properties. Hazelnut oil is unusually highly unsaturated and rich in copper and even contains traces of gold. It is usually blended with other oils to which it adds its nutritious, toning and moisturising qualities.
