EUCALYPTUS PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Peppermint Eucalyptus is endemic to the tablelands and coastal areas of New South Wales. It was one of the first Eucalyptus species to be collected by the surgeons who accompanied the First Fleet on its voyage to Australia. They quickly recognised the potential medicinal value of the tree because the scent reminded them of the familiar English garden mints. They called it ‘Peppermint tree’ or ‘Broad-leaved Peppermint’ in allusion to the humble herb. The essential oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs of the Peppermint Tree, which rarely grow more than 20m tall.
Peppermint Eucalyptus is instantly refreshing - on a hot summer day it offers magic in a spritzer-bottle. The leaves are insect-repellent and discourage vermin. Indigenous Australians have long used Peppermint Eucalyptus as incense and medicine. Liniments made with this cooling aroma relieve fever, soothe inflammatory skin conditions, and cool insect bites. It can also relieve nausea and settle an upset stomach.
The refreshing minty aroma of Peppermint Eucalyptus can cool overheating temperaments, and calm irritation and overexcitement. It refreshes the mind and rejuvenates weary and listless spirits. Its powerful cleansing properties can discharge unwanted energies and cleanse the atmosphere. Peppermint Eucalyptus can help focus the mind during lengthy rituals or meditation sessions.
The overriding olfactory impression is that of clean, sharp, crispy Peppermint. The lively and invigorating aroma blends well with Lemon, Lavender, Basil, and Rosemary.
