TANGERINE ESSENTIAL OIL

Citrus reticulata

Tangerines, Mandarines, Mandarine-Oranges or Clementines? It is not always easy to determine which is which. The bright orange fruits are all subspecies of Mandarines, but each has its unique taste and aroma. Tangerines are very similar to Mandarines but have thinner skin, which peels off easily. Tangerines are named after the Moroccan town of Tangiers, the principal port from which they were first exported. Citrus oils are less stable than many other essential oils. Store in a cool, dark place to protect them from oxidation and spoilage.

Traditional
Tangerine is a delicious snack fruit, full of vitamin C and other micro-nutrients. Traditional Chinese Medicine recommends them for liver support. Like other citrus oils, Tangerine essential oil helps to break down fats. As an ingredient of natural cosmetics, it checks the overproduction of skin oils. Or, added to a vegetable base oil, it is a supportive aromatherapy aid for cellulite.

Magical
The sunny scent of Tangerine essential oil revives the spirit and comforts the soul. It is a fragrant balm that eases anxiety, nervous tension and exhaustion. Like other citrus oils, it is associated with the Sun and Jupiter and resonates with the solar plexus chakra. The bright, all-zinging aroma inspires a sense of playful, creative innocence - an invitation to dance like nobody is watching.

Scent
Tangerine's sweet, refreshing scent warms the atmosphere like the first rays of sunshine in the spring. Tangerine essential oil blends well with Cinnamon, Clove, Lemongrass, Lemon, Lime, Petitgrain, Geranium, Grapefruit, Bergamot, Citronella, and Frankincense.

Synonyms
Tangerine is often confused with mandarine-orange, a closely related species.
